Colorimeter reagents available in a wide range of parameters and styles Thermo Scientific Orion AQUAfast® colorimeter reagent chemistries are available in a number of parameters. For many of the parameters, there are choices pertaining to range, testing method or type of reagents. When selecting reagents please consult the datasheet within product resources to ensure the reagent is compatible with your colorimeter. Thermo Scientific Orion AQUAfast® colorimeter reagents are available in the following types: Auto-ID ampoules are compatible with the Thermo Scientific Orion AQ4000 colorimeter and require minimal user intervention. The vial contains the reagents and pulls the proper amount of the sample into the vial. The Auto-ID label automatically selects and starts the test in the AQ4000. When the test is completed, the results are available for viewing and download. Auto-ID™ ampoules require no handling of chemicals and minimizes potential errors. With proper storage, most ampoules have a shelf life of a year or more. AQUAfast powder chemistry packs allow for easy and cleaner measurements. Thermo Scientific Orion has a wide range of EPA equivalent chemistries available. Each powder chemistry comes with enough packs to do 100 tests. Powder packs are pre-measured reagents that are ready to use. The steps of the test method are already pre-programmed into the more advanced AQUAfast colorimeters such as AQ4000 and AQ3700. For added convenience, powder packs can be used on other manufacturers' colorimeters. With proper storage, powders have a five year shelf life. Convenient tablets are individually packaged to minimize handling. They can be pushed out of the foil directly into the sample vial so you do not touch the reagent chemical. A tablet crushing stir rod is used to mix and quickly dissolve the tablet for the measurement. The tablets have a long shelf life-- many maintain their activity for 10 years. Some reagent methods such as the SPADNS fluoride test kit and pH indicator reagents are liquids that are added to the sample. The SPADNS test follows the EPA method and Thermo's pH reagents are a phenol red indicator to determine the pH quickly. The sample's pH is very important for the formation of the colored species being tested. COD, total nitrogen and total phosphate digestion methods also are liquids that are sold in 16 mm tubes. Just add the sample, digestion in a thermoreactor and after the reaction with the reagent, the measurements are taken in the 16 mm tubes used in the preparation steps. Similar to digestion tubes, reaction tubes do not require a digestor to heat the samples for the reaction to occur.
