A little bit about Westinghouse For over a century Westinghouse have been providing electronic solutions to the global market. When they were first founded back in 1886 by George Westinghouse, they were majorly involved in bringing electricity to every part of the USA and had some pretty well-known engineers working for them including Nikola Tesla and William Stanley. Being such an innovator in the electricity industry, Westinghouse have been responsible for a number of developments. They were the first company to pioneer long-distance power transmission and high-voltage alternating-current (AC) transmission. Some of their other innovations include the first main-line AC powered locomotive in 1905, the first continuous-filament tungsten light bulb in 1909, the first electric clothes dryer in 1946 and the first temperature controlled portable grill in 1950. Today the company has been acquired by the Japanese multinational corporation Toshiba and continues to manufacture electrical and automation products under the Westinghouse name.
