The TPS7A3401EVM-042 is an evaluation module and reference design for TPS7A3401 negative voltage, low dropout DC/DC regulator with an adjustable output voltage for loads up to 200mA. This particular evaluation module configuration contains a single linear regulator with internal thermal and current limit shutdowns, and enable (disable) circuitry in a 3mmx5mm, MSOP 8, thermally enhanced PowerPAD package. The regulator, including external components, is capable of delivering up to -200mA to the load, depending on the input output power dissipation, at an operating input voltage down to -20V. The evaluation module output voltage is adjustable by an external resistor divider from -1.2V to -17V. The resistor divider is preset to provide VOUT approximately equal to -15V. The TPS7A3401 linear regulator is suitable for cost effective, post dc/dc converter regulation. By filtering out the output voltage ripple inherent to dc/dc switching conversion, increased system performance is provided. Input voltage range from -3V to -20V Adjustable output from -1.18V to -17V (Pre set to -15V) 500mV at 100mA dropout voltage Stable with ceramic capacitors greater then 10uF CMOS logic level compatible enable pin Fixed current limit Thermal shutdown Protection It is important to operate this EVM within the input voltage range of -22V to 0.3V and the output voltage range of -20V to -3V. Exceeding the specified input range may cause damage to the EVM.
