Sub-miniature load cell Small in size and capable of highly accurate readings, the LCFD Series comprises subminiature load cells for precision industrial applications. They are all stainless steel, measure both tension and compression loads, and have male thread studs for load attachment. The exclusive internal design provides superior long-term stability and minimizes the effects of small off-axis loads. A compression load cell measures the force of pushing inward along an axis. This instrument is part of a line of load cells which are transducers that convert force into an electrical signal. These include the compression load cell and the tension load cell, which measures the force of pulling against an object. There are tools that measure like a compression load cell and a tension one. These are available in a number of configurations to meet your specific application. Davis Instruments offers a variety of load cell tools from Omegadyne in a large range of capacities, from 2.2 lbs to over 50,000 lbs. You can also get them in stainless steel for harsh industrial applications. When choosing a compression load cell you should consider the maximum weight of the load being tested, you don’t want to measure a 950 lb load with a 0-1,000 lb compression load cell, you run the danger of overburdening the instrument.
